Alfred Sisley 1839 ~ 1899 |
|
Alfred Sisley, a French landscape painter, was born in Paris with English parents. He met the French artists Claude Monet and Pierre Auguste Renoir at the studio of the Swiss painter Charles Gabriel Gleyre. Although Sisley's work attracted little attention in his lifetime, he was one of the founders of the impressionist school of painting. Sisley's gentle, idyllic paintings reveal the lifelong influence of the French painter Camille Corot, especially in their soft, harmonious colors. |
